Fair housing.
Equal Housing Opportunity. Same standards, same screening, same service for every applicant — and how to tell us if we miss that mark.
Equal Housing Opportunity
Meridian Property Group is committed to the letter and the spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity. We do business in accordance with the Federal Fair Housing Law and California's Fair Employment and Housing Act.
What this means in practice
It is illegal to discriminate against any person because of any of the following protected characteristics:
- Race
- Color
- Religion
- Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation)
- Familial status (presence of children under 18 in the household, pregnancy, or securing custody of children under 18)
- National origin
- Disability (mental or physical)
- Ancestry
- Marital status
- Source of income (including housing assistance such as Section 8)
- Military or veteran status
- Genetic information
- Age (where applicable)
- Citizenship or immigration status
- Primary language
- Any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law
Whether you are renting, buying, selling, or applying for property management services, Meridian applies the same standards, the same screening criteria, and the same level of service to every applicant.
Reasonable accommodations and modifications
Applicants and residents with disabilities have the right to request reasonable accommodations in rules, policies, practices, or services, and reasonable modifications to the premises, when such accommodations or modifications are necessary to use and enjoy the dwelling. To request an accommodation or modification, contact us using the information below.
An assistance animal that provides support to a person with a disability is not a pet under fair housing law and is not subject to pet rules, pet rent, or pet deposits.
Source-of-income protections (California)
California law (Gov. Code § 12955) prohibits discrimination based on source of income, including any federal, state, or local public-housing assistance such as Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8). Meridian considers vouchers and other lawful sources of income on the same terms as wages or other income.
